Our Work
Is Our Love

Together we can give children a chance to thrive
in a world full of hope and joy. And it is easier
than you think to get involved.

What Sets Us Apart

Why is HLA different? Why should someone support HLA vs another cause or
mentorship organization? How are funds used wisely?

3 main focuses that make us HLA are:

Comprehensive Approach

We believe in a holistic, and comprehensive approach to working with youth. HLA provides students across San Diego county access to the Academy throughout the school year that develops educational goals, spiritual growth, athletic opportunities and leadership skills. We run sports camps throughout the summer and school breaks, and partner with a number of wonderful organizations to invite our kids to experience new adventures all throughout the year.

Generational Impact

We feel it is important to commit to long-term, and generational impact in our communities, and our students. Our commitment to a student in our Academy is beyond just the individual. We partner with parents and grandparents, faculty, and community members to create lasting change that will raise up the next generation, and generations to come. Relationships are important to our team, volunteers, and board members and are a culture of our company. We desire to build relationships with our students, and these schools that will last for years to come.

Faith

We have a consistent focus on faith throughout our curriculum, and believe it is an integral part of our ministry.  We desire to bring education and knowledge to empower kids to make choices on their own, to grow emotionally, and spiritually to pursue their calling in life.

Hear It From Our Students

“It was definitely great having HLA and Chantelle Anderson in my life! Chantelle, at a point, was recruiting me but it never felt like I was simply talking to a coach. She actually took the time to get to know me and welcomed me into her circle regardless of if I was going to commit to her school or not.”

IMANI LITTLETON

St John's University

“HLA is more than sports, more than camps, more than a family, more than a community… It is a fellowship of the people of Christ! HLA is a way to grow in your relationship with God while growing in your athletic abilities or talents he has blessed you with.”

KAORI ANDERSON-WALKER

St. Augustine High School

“What I learned at the HLF camps were much bigger than playing a game, I learned to work well with others no matter our ethnicity or background grounds because we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. I learned to be grateful for all my talents and gifts that I am blessed with and to pray daily because I am still a work in progress.”

Where We Work

Sign Up My School

Oceanside

Oceanside, California is a beautiful, coastal city in North County, San Diego. In 2017 we launched the first Academy in Oceanside at Laurel Elementary for 3rd-5th Graders. We are currently working with Jefferson Middle School to launch an Academy January of 2018. Our desire is to walk with students each year of elementary, middle and high school, and into college.

Greater Barrio Logan

Barrio Logan is a beautiful community, rich in historic culture, with strong family values. HLA launched its first Academy here at King Chavez in 2013. One thing we love about this community is the impact across generations. Families in Barrio Logan are proud of their community, and desire to raise their family where they grew up. We see many students that live with not just their parents, but grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We have now launched two Academies at King Chavez Schools, including the elementary and middle school.

Sports is an amazing avenue to teach values, morals and biblical principals.  HLA does a great job utilizing this platform to build up young men and women who otherwise might lack positive influences in their life.

MARK FOREMAN

Lead Pastor at North Coast Calvary Chapel

Serving and loving kids and teaching them to play a sport that I love, it’s priceless. Hope Leadership Academy provides opportunities to kids that they may never get if it weren’t for this program.
