Alex Herta
Middle School Lead Coordinator
Alex grew up in Los Angeles, California, accepting Christ at the young age of 13 and began serving at her local church. She attended the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in Sociology. As the first person in her family to attend college, Alex recognized the inherent value in higher education and dedicated her time and energy to helping other students achieve the dream of going to college. By assisting students with the application process and tutoring underserved communities in core academic subjects and standardized test prep, Alex has been able to truly make a difference in the lives of countless young adults.
After graduating from Berkeley, Alex began working in various Human Resources roles, hoping to assist adults in discovering their passions and strengths. However, Alex yearned to be back in the educational space and has found her home as a private tutor, where she tutors not only test prep and academic subjects, but also works in her company’s counseling department as a College Counselor. She also had a heart to keep serving kids for Christ and was overjoyed that her values aligned with HLA. She has joined as the Middle School Academy Coordinator and has been loving it!
When she isn’t helping students get into the college of their dreams, Alex enjoys spending time with her border collie Avi who is currently learning agility tricks! Whether it’s playing the accordion or mastering the art of portrait photography, Alex is a true collector of hobbies.
